Fernando Meirelles

Born in São Paulo in 1955. He studied architecture, but soon joined his friends in creating Olhar Eletrônica, an independent company that produced content for television. In the 1990s, with other partners, he founded O2 and began to produce for cinema. Among his feature films are "Maids" (2001), "City of God" (2002), which received multiple awards and earned Meirelles an Oscar nomination for best director, "The Constant Gardener" (2005), "Blindness" (2008) and "360" (2011). He also directed “Two Popes” (2019), presented at the 43rd Mostra.
