Born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1996, he released his first short film, “Graduationparty!!!!!!”, in 2009, at the age of 13. His first feature film, “Jesus” (2018), received the award for best film in the New Directors competition at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. He collaborated with Hirokazu Kore-eda on the series “Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko Household” (2023). “My Sunshine” is his second feature film.
