Born in Santos, Brazil, in 1954. With José Antonio Garcia, he directed, besides “Onda Nova”, the award-winning feature films “The Magic Eye of Love” (1982) and “Estrela Nua” (1985). He collaborated on the scripts for the television series “Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum” (1994-1995) and was the screenwriter for “Tempo de Resistência” (2003), by André Ristum. He also directed “Light in Darkness: The Return of Red Light Bandit” (2010), together with Helena Ignez, a film that was presented at the Locarno Film Festival, and “Maria – Não Esqueça que Eu Venho dos Trópicos” (2017). Martins is also a theater director.
