Brazilian filmmaker, co-founder of Casa de Cinema de Porto Alegre and screenwriter for TV Globo. He directed many short films like “O Dia em que Dorival Encarou a Guarda” (1986), “Isle of Flowers” (1989) and “This Is Not Your Life” (1991). Among his main feature films are “The Man who Copied” (2003), “Meu Tio Matou um Cara” (2005), “Basic Sanitation, the Movie” (2007), “O Mercado de Notícias” (2014), “Real Beleza” (2015), “Quem É Primavera das Neves” (2017) and “Rend Your Heart” (2018, 42nd Mostra). He is creator and collaborator of series for the TV like “A Comédia da Vida Privada” (1995-1997) and “Doce de Mãe” (2014) and, most recently, “Mister Brau” (2015-2018) and “Sob Pressão” (2017-2022). In 2011, Furtado took part in the International Jury of the 35th Mostra.
