Born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1965. After some short films and an experimental movie, “Requiem” (1987), he directed the hipster trilogy with “Die Mediocren” (1996, 20th Mostra), “Sexy Sadie” (1995, 20th Mostra) and “Fandango” (2000), all presented in the Panorama section of the Berlin International Film Festival. He then made the feature films “The Free Will” (2006, 30th Mostra), “This Is Love” (2009) and “Mercy” (2011, 36th Mostra), screened in film festivals like Tribeca, Berlin and San Sebastián. He also directed films and series for television.
