Born in 1993, Jean-Baptiste currently lives between Brussels and Paris. He grew up in the context of the Guyanese and West Indian diaspora in France. As a filmmaker, he explores the complexity of Western colonial history, detecting the survival of past traumas in the present. He directed short films such as “Nou Voix” (2018) and “Moune Ô” (2022), presented at the Berlin International Film Festival. With his sister Audrey, he co-directed the short film “Listen to the Beat of Our Images” (2021), screened at film festivals like Clermont-Ferrand, CPH:DOX, Hot Docs, and IDFA. “Listen to the Voices” is his first feature film.
