Murilo Salles

Filmmaker born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He also works as a cinematographer, screenwriter and producer. In 1984, “Happier than Ever”, his first feature film, was presented at the Cannes Film Festival and awarded at Locarno Film Festival. Among his works are “Two Edged Knife” (1989), “Two Billion Hearts” (1995), a documentary about 1994 FIFA World Cup, “How an Angel Was Born” (1996), presented at the Berlin International Film Festival, “Seja o que Deus Quiser” (2002), “Camila Jam” (2007, 31st Mostra), “Aprendi a Jogar com Você” (2014) and “Means to an End” (2013), both presented at the 38th Mostra, edition he was also a member of the international jury. Salles also made “Alegorias do Brasil” (2018), an essay series in 13 chapters, and the documentary “Uma Baía” (2022), presented at DOK.Leipzig.
