He is a Mexican-Canadian filmmaker who was born in 1982. His work explores the everyday through fractured and elliptical narratives using fiction and documentary tools. Among his films are “Juntos” (2009), “Perpetuum Mobile” (2009), “Summer of Goliath” (2010), “The Palace” (2013), “The Absent” (2014), “Minotaur” (2015) and “Fauna” (2020), screened and awarded in film festivals including Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Locarno, Toronto, Guadalajara and Mar del Plata. His work has been the subject of numerous retrospectives and has been presented in galleries and museums like the Reina Sofía in Madrid, the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris, the Guggenheim and MoMA in New York.
