Born in Uralsk, Kazakhstan, in 1988. She made her first short films while studying with Darezhan Omirbayev. She also studied film at the New York Film Academy and, in 2016, took part in the Berlinale Talents Campus. Subsequently she obtained a MFA in Film Directing at the Zhurgenov National Academy of Fine Arts in Kazakhstan. Her first feature film “Bad Bad Winter” (2018) was presented at ACID Cannes. “Crickets, It’s Your Turn” is her second feature film.
