Born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in 1983, she began her career as an actress. She studied dramatic arts at USP, anthropology at Columbia University, and has a master’s degree at the London School of Economics. She directed the short film “Olhos de Ressaca” (2009) and the documentaries “Elena” (2012, 36th Mostra), awarded at the Havana Film Festival, “Olmo and the Seagull” (2015, 39th Mostra), with Lea Glob, awarded at Locarno Film Festival and CPH:DOX, and “The Edge of Democracy” (2019), nominated for an Academy award for best documentary.
