Rafael Saar

Born in Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1983. He is a director, writer and editor. He has a master’s degree in cinema and audiovisual from Universidade Federal Fluminense, specialist in cultural management from Universidade Cândido Mendes and a bachelor’s degree in cinema from UFF. He made short films like “After Everything” (2008) and “Birdman” (2010), and worked as an assistant director and researcher for the film “Naked Eye” (2012), by Joel Pizzini, about the singer Ney Matogrosso, screened at the 37th Mostra. Saar directed the features “Yorimatã” (2014, 38th Mostra) and “Peixe Abissal” (2023).
