Born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, in 1982. He graduated in film directing at the Universidad del Cine, in Buenos Aires. Alves Jr. is a screenwriter and director of theater and cinema. His work is characterized by the mix of languages, and by construction of particular atmospheres and universes. He made short films like “Raw Material” (2006), “Invitation to Dine with Comrade Stalin” (2007), “Permanences” (2010), “Tremor” (2013) and “Vitória” (2020), in addition to the feature films “Elon Doesn’t Believe in Death” (2016, 40th Mostra), “Who is Afraid?” (2022) and “All That You Could Be” (2023). His films were presented in film festivals like Berlin, Cannes, Locarno and Rotterdam.
