Born in Santa Catarina, Brazil, in 1946. At the age of 20, he made his first short film, "Documentário" (1966). In 1968, he had his feature film debut with "The Red Light Bandit". After that, he founded the production company Belair with Helena Ignez and Julio Bressane. Sganzerla also directed movies such as "Copacabana Mon Amour" (1970), "Sem Essa, Aranha" (1970) and "Isto É Noel Rosa" (1990, 15 th Mostra). An enthusiast of Orson Welles’ (1915-1985) work, he produced and directed a trilogy about him: "Nem Tudo É Verdade" (1985), "Tudo É Brasil" (1998, 39 th Mostra) and "The Sign of Caos" (2003, 27 th Mostra). Died in São Paulo in 2004 at the age of 57.
