Born in Qazaqstan, in 1993, he graduated in directing from the Moscow State University of Culture and Arts, in Russia. His work is deeply rooted in the rich cinematic history of his native Central Asia. He directed short films, including “Dreamystan” (2015) and “The Boy and the Elephant” (2018), and the art installation “I Don’t Play Like That”. “Era” is his first feature film.
