Veronika was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1965, and began her career as a film journalist. Since 1997, she has worked with the director and film producer Ulrich Seidl as an associate artist and screenwriter. Fiala was born in 1985 and studied screenwriting and directing at the Film Academy Vienna. Together, they directed the documentary “Kern” (2012), about the actor and director Peter Kern, presented at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, “Goodnight Mommy” (2014), which premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and was warded at BAFICI, and the English-language film “The Lodge” (2019), exhibited at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
