Inscriptions in some of the caves of Pedra da Gávea that date back to the pre-colonial period are the starting point for this tribute to Jimi Hendrix and the power of Mu, a Phoenician deity celebrated by a fanatical and intergalactic Zé Bonitinho. With an experimental accent, a soundtrack by Hendrix and a performance by José Mojica Marins in the role of an egocentric scientist.

“Abismu” was telecine/digitized and preserved thanks to the financial resources and efforts of Mercúrio Produções and Sinai Sganzerla.

The new copy of the film was shown at the Locarno Film Festival in 2023.
