International Perspective
The film tells the true story of Nevenka Fernández, a 24-year-old woman who begins working at the City Council of Ponferrada, a small Spanish town. The mayor, accustomed to having privileges and wielding his power, becomes infatuated with her —and what seemed like a promising job soon turns into a nightmare. Instead of enduring the situation, Nevenka decides to publicly denounce the mayor. She must face the entire town, the media, and the public opinion of a country that chose to label her as a calculating opportunist, questioning her intimate life and behavior, undermining her dignity.
