Through this portrait of a group of mediums in New York City, the documentary captures private psychic sessions with a very distinct set of clients, who ask questions they cannot ask anywhere else. Gradually, the mediums themselves become the main characters of the film, as their motivations and experiences of loneliness and loss are revealed.
