The story of the meeting of two extraordinary women: Brazilian Virgínia Bicudo and German Adelaide Koch. Virgínia, a black woman, was the first Brazilian psychoanalyst. Adelaide, a Jewish psychoanalyst, came to Brazil to escape the Nazi regime in Germany. They met in November 1937 in São Paulo, at the exact moment that Getúlio Vargas decreed the Estado Novo, becoming a dictator. Doctor and patient for five years, colleagues and friends for life, two women who faced racism and actively participated in the founding of psychoanalysis in Brazil.
