Widower Beth lives by herself in the countryside. While facing troubles to maintain her propriety she resists her son’s insistence for her to move with him to an upper-class neighborhood in the city. When a group of Haitian immigrants move close by she asks a Haitian called Bastide to live and work with her, an action that angers her son. But the day-to-day routine transforms Beth and Bastide’s work relationship into a sincere friendship between two people from different backgrounds who share common ideas and feelings.
