The dreams and journeys of three people lead the narrative outlining a portrait of modern India. Pzaresh is a projectionist who travels the dusty road up-country in a jeep, showing educational films in 16 mm. In the repetitive day-to-day activity, he feeds his own imagination with the image of a girl from one of these films that he dreams of meeting up with some day. Chapal is the substitute driver, and to the contrary, only dreams of becoming wealthy in Dubai crossing the border with a false passport. Amina, a young Moslem, is pregnant and widowed after the death of her husband in a revolt, has no plans other than to find the means to return to her native land. She believes that her son will be born and have an indisputable identity in her own land. All of these projects are interwoven when then the two men give the mother-to-be a ride in that she plans to cross the borders even without documents or money. As from then, the threesome face divers obstacles when the jeep is stolen together with the projector and a murder is committed.
