Getting Home (2007)
Sobre o filme
It’s the true story of two co-workers, Zhao and Liu, old friends both in their 50`s. They were drinking heavily when Liu dies unexpectedly. In keeping with a promise to his friend, Zhao decides to travel thousands of miles across China to bring the body home. He pretends his companion is just a passed-out drunk, boards a cross-country bus, and meets a band of armed robbers. Zhao tells them to kill him first to take his dead friend’s compensation. Moved by his loyalty, the robbers show their respect and leave the bus. After spending a night at a hotel, Zhao finds his travelling money has been stolen. When he needs money, he uses Liu’s corpse to pose as a beggar. When he needs to eat, he cries at a stranger’s funeral to get a free meal. When he needs to hide Liu’s death spots, he finds a sympathetic prostitute who puts make up on Liu. Along his odyssey, Zhao meets many different types of Chinese people.
