Memory of September (2006)
Sobre o filme
Hiking with a friend in a mountain, Aya drops at an old studio of Noh Masks, caught in a sudden shower. There she sees the Master sculpturing a wooden mask of oni (cruel ogre), which mysteriously shakes her soul. Aya lives alone in a city, where she cannot really find her place to live. One day, she again goes up to the mountain, this time by herself, and meets an old man with his old wife in wheelchair at a shrine. The old guard of the forest invites her to his deserted home, the other studio of Masks. Followed by Aya, he goes deeper and deeper into the mountain. That area, however, is known for where many people go into and never come back. Sank in the forest, secretly alive is a devil, a fairy, or a spirit of nature? What is hidden in the heart of this dreaming girl? Old Japan’s “memory” silently lies at the bottom of this delicate film.
