A free rendering of the Oedipus Rex tragedy transposed to the deepest hinterland of Guimarães Rosa. In the dialog and disquieting shade, the characters question the legitimacy of truth and expound on values and universal feelings. Modesto and his protégé Cirineu, two cowhands on a cattle ranch, drive into the furthermost reaches in search of vengeance. Modesto suffers with the unwelcome news that his wife Evangelina is betraying him. Reality or otherwise, hate, hurt, jealousy and love are an amalgam of feelings that confuse reason and blind truth. All is in the dark eye of an ox and in the blind gaze of a mute god. The sound track is by a twosome of self-taught guitarists Duofel (Fernando Melo and Luiz Bueno).
