Almost thirty years after, Everything’ Alright returns to the big screen in a restored version financed by Arnaldo Jabor himself. The 30th Mostra promotes it’ first public exhibition. A typical middle-class family is busy renovating their apartment. The head of the house is Juarez, retired and surrounded by the ghosts of friends who have died. His wife, Elvira, cannot accept the fact he is impotent and believes he must have a mistress. And there are the children: Zé Roberto, an opportunist executive and Vera Lúcia, concerned only in procuring a husband. Aparecida de Fátima, one of the maids, is a fervent mystic, and Zezé is a prostitute in her time off. When Elvira decides on a makeover for the apartment and a band of laborers move in with the family, pandemonium and a mix of types are there. In the best Jabor style, the film is a corrosive comedy on conflict between social classes centered in a microcosm between four walls. The film was awarded Candangos for film, supporting actor (Paulo César Pereio) and photography at the 1978 Brasília Film Festival. The selection of music for the soundtrack is interesting, ranging from Indian chanting from the Upper Xingu to Belchior and João Bosco, and from Giuseppe Verdi to Igor Stravinski.
