Sobre o filme

During the Great Depression in Winnipeg, Canada, millionaire Lady Port-Huntly announces an international competition for the saddest music in the world. Musicians from all over the world flock to it in the hopes of winning a prize of over 25 thousand dollars. The Brothers Kent decide to try their luck. Chester, a Broadway producer is convinced he can win with a song that blends in all types of jazz. His girlfriend Narcissa, a sleep walking nymphomaniac is his muse for inspiration. Roderick, Chester’s brother, is a cellist and has just returned from the war in Serbia. He is disconsolate for he has lost the woman he loved. The family, however, keeps it all a secret: the father of the boys, Fyodor, was responsible for the accident where Lady Port-Huntly who is sponsoring the competition, lost both her legs. Adapted from an original script by writer Kazuo Ishiguro.
