Born in 1950. He immigrated to Belgium in 1970, where he studied theater and television directing at the Instituto Nacional Superior de Artes do Espetáculo. Khleifi worked on Belgian TV before starting to direct his own films. His directorial debut comes with “Fertile Memory”, 1980, in a career that now has ten titles, including “Wedding in Galilee” (1987), his greatest triumph in recognition. He is considered the first Palestinian director to produce and release a feature film.
