Born in Minas Gerais, Brazil, in 1941, he is considered part of one of the first generations of black directors in Brazilian cinema. He began his career acting in feature films such as “Aguenta o Rojão” (1958), by Watson Macedo, and “No Mundo da Lua” (1958), by Roberto Farias. His first short film, “Um Dia de Chuva”, is dated from the 1960s, but remains missing. In 1970, Lopez founded the production company Super-Filmes and made his first feature film, “One Is Few, Two Could Fill”. He wrote several screenplays, such as “Quando É Preciso Ser Mulher” (1971/1972), “Os Anônimos” (1972), “Felicidade Até Existe” (1974), “Sete, Zero, Zero Contra o Sacristão” (1989), all deposited in the Cinemateca Capitólio. He died in 2002. In 2023, researcher Lorenna Rocha found a telecine feature film on VHS, entirely made in super-8, in the house of Vanessa Lopez, Odilon’s daughter, bringing together almost ten years of images
