International Perspective
In Barcelona, in the late 1960s, the young jeweler Eugenio falls in love with Conchita at first sight. He dedicates himself to learning the guitar so he can accompany her in her musical career. Despite his stage fright, they begin performing together. When Conchita leaves the city for two weeks, she convinces Eugenio to perform solo —and he becomes a phenomenon in the underground stand-up comedy scene. With her help, he creates his alter ego, with dark glasses, a black shirt, a stool, cigarettes, and a glass of whiskey. This character is set to become an unexpected success in a depressed Spain desperate to laugh.
